Winter Seminar- Grand Junction, CO – January 22, 2016
The 16th annual Winter Seminar was held in Grand Junction at St. Mary’s Hospital, Saccomanno Education Center. Five sessions and 6.5 continuing education credits were offered. With 58 total attendees, this year was a huge success! Speakers included Justin Rhees, Deb Hagen-Moe from the Mayo Clinic and Angela Silva, the microbiology manager at St. Mary’s. Thank you Tracy Matthews for putting this together! You are awesome !

Pueblo Fall Seminar – November 11, 2014
The Pueblo Fall Seminar was a huge success with 73 registrants!!! It was held at St. Mary Corwin this year and featured 6 hours of continuing education. Thanks to everyone who participated in our goofy faces photo shoot. You rock!
Clinical Laboratory Collaborative Conference – April 10-11, 2014
The Clinical Laboratory Collaborative Conference was a huge success! The program this year featured 26 different speakers, a student poster session, a 2-day vendor exposition, and a CACMLE social. One special treat was to hear Patrick Conroy’s presentation on the University of Colorado Hospital’s response to the Aurora Theater Shooting. Thanks to our partners in this venture – ASCLS-Wyoming, CACMLE, and CLMA!
Boondocks Bowling Fundraiser – April 9, 2014

New Belgium Brewery Tour – March 24, 2014
Members of ASCLS-Colorado gathered in Fort Collins to learn about the science of creating beer. We had a blast walking through the brewery! Then we had lunch at the Laboratory Restaurant. Thanks to Ian Wallace for these photos.
Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Conference – March 7, 2014
The HOSA conference was a terrific opportunity to recruit high school students for our profession! Over 700 high school students from all areas of Colorado attended the HOSA conference. ASCLS had a booth that promoted the Medical Laboratory Science profession. MLS Students from Southern Colorado wore white lab coats and spoke to the high school students. Stephanie Mihane of Kaiser Permanente gave a talk to a room full of bright-eyed future medical laboratory professionals. 21 high school students competed in a competition at Pueblo Community College. As part of the competition the students performed a gram stain and occult blood test for judges and were scored based on safety, specimen identification, following the procedure, and reading the result. Thanks to Cathy McNary, Diane Weimer, Lori Mutz, and Jenney Mead for acting as judges!
Pueblo Fall Seminar – November 8, 2013
What a blast! ASCLS-Colorado partnered with CACMLE to provide 6 hours of continuing education. Topics included antibiotic stewardship and MDROs, vitamin D, TRALI, broncheolar lavage, and hematology case studies. If you have suggestions for next year’s speakers or topics please contact Jenney Mead.
Intermountain States Seminar – September 1-4, 2013
Thanks to Ian Wallace for these photos. ASCLS-Colorado participated in four days of continuing education in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. As part of the trip we visited Yellowstone National Park. What an amazing conference!

Brewery Tour – Fort Collins, May 11, 2013
Members of ASCLS-Colorado gathered for a fun tour depicting the science behind brewing beer. Students and new professionals were encouraged to attend.

Leaders gathered for a weekend of planning in beautiful Estes Park. This just goes to show that being a leader is not just responsibility – it’s also a lot of fun!

Students from Parkview School of Medical Laboratory Science competed with the UCCS-Bethel MLS program. Students did a great job answering difficult questions from ASCLS-Colorado judges. Then we all ate lunch!

Lots of learning in Denver, Colorado. The ASCLS-Colorado general assembly was extremely informative and we voted on a lot of important items that affect professionals around the state. Great job planning committee!!!
HOSA – March 4, 2011
Hundreds of high school students from around the state attended this event sponsored by the Health Occupations Students of America. Students from the Colorado Center for Medical Laboratory Science and other members of ASCLS-Colorado did a terrific job manning the Medical Laboratory Science booth. The event exposed a LOT of students to our profession!

Sister Rose’s 50-Year Celebration
Sister Rose Brown of Colorado Springs celebrated her 50th year of ASCLS membership. Her life-long contribution to the profession has touched our hearts!
